On Saturday, June 14, the Swiss Community Historical Society will host a blacksmithing demonstration by Keith Sommer, SCHS curator. This is the first of three Second Saturday events to be held at the homestead in 2025.
Lauer Farms was the setting for a glimpse into the life of the "Greatest Generation." More than 500 students from area schools took part in the "School Days" field trip, learning from reenactors about what life was like back in 1944, both in the war zone and back here at home. The students navigated three camps: Allied, Axis, and home-front, chatting with local historians. The event was capped off by a battlefield reenactment.

A fishing demonstration was held at the Ottawa Metro Park on Wednesday. The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District hosted the event, with kids ages 7-9 getting a hands-on demonstration on how to fish.
Two separate incidents became known to the community that caused the demonstration. In one incident, a student was bullied for attending a Black Lives Matter rally, while the other incident saw a student being bullied for their sexuality. Korbin Steinbrunner is a student at Wapakoneta High School. Once he learned of the two incidents, he wanted to team up with other students as well as community members to inspire positive change within the community.
