July 23, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine: (WORTHINGTON, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 47 today during a ceremony at Worthington Kilbourne High School. The new law will require automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in every public and chartered nonpublic school in Ohio. According to the CDC, more than 356,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the United States. An estimated 70-90% of these people die before reaching the hospital. However, the American Heart Association reports that nine out of 10 cardiac arrest victims will live if they receive a shock from an AED in the first minute after an incident.

April 15, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine: (COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced nearly $2.5 million in grants to expand access to teen driver training for low-income Ohio families. Thirty-five local school districts and government agencies will receive grants totaling $2,495,655 from the Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program. Funding awarded through the program is used to provide driver training scholarships to eligible teenage drivers across Ohio.

Governor DeWine spoke to the General Assembly about some of the accomplishments that the state has had in the past year and the goals he has for Ohio in the future. Help wanted signs are up in many Ohio businesses. To get parents to fill those positions, DeWine is calling for the creation of a childcare voucher program, so their kids will be watched while mom and dad are at work.

Since 2023 was a budget year, last year's address featured a lot of funding requests, including investments in infrastructure to help grow current companies and lure new businesses to the Buckeye State. He also talked about investments in career tech programs across the state to train the next generation of workers. DeWine also stressed the importance of improving mental health services in Ohio.

March 28, 2024 Press Release from the Office of Governor Mike DeWine: (COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) announced today more than 1.8 million acres are now enrolled into H2Ohio, a comprehensive water quality plan designed to address complex issues affecting Lake Erie. The results of the most recent signup period show a 32 percent increase in enrolled acres when compared to previous sign ups.
