Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) Director Kara B. Wente announced today in Toledo the launch of an effort to improve birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality rates.

Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown recently helped introduce a bi-partisan bill to reduce high infant mortality rates.

That bill is the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act. If enacted it would re-approve the Healthy Start Program for five years. Healthy Start is a grant program that identifies and supports communities with a high percentage of infant mortality rates.
