A final report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections into the escape of two inmates from the Oakwood-Allen Correctional Institution in late May has been released. That report indicates mistakes were made, correctives measures taken and disciplinary action is ongoing.

A former escaped Allen Correctional Institute inmate has pleaded guilty to charges he was facing in Kentucky when he was caught in May of 2023. James Lee was sentenced to 8 years in prison for evading police, wanton endangerment, and receiving stolen property. Those charges stem from his capture in Henderson, Kentucky after he and Bradley Gillespie escaped the prison by leaving through the trash. Lee was captured after they crashed a stolen car during a chase in Henderson.
