During closing arguments, the state made a point to say this case was straight forward. The jury must have thought so too as they found Robinson guilty on all seven charges in just one hour. Robinson was sentenced to 27 and a half years in prison for charges of aggravated vehicular homicide two OVI charges and four charges of aggravated vehicular assault. All these charges, for the crash he caused going the wrong way on I-75 crashing into the Watson and Frye family, killing 15-year-old Christopher Watson. The family was returning to Michigan from Disney World.
The trial for John Robinson picked back up today with a few law enforcement officials taking the stand. Two men from the Ohio State Highway Patrol testified they were on scene of a crash on I-75 in Beaverdam involving Robinson and a Michigan family. Both say they spoke to Robinson who had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. A sergeant says he acquired a blood warrant and was present to see Robinson's blood drawn to test for the alcohol in his blood. Through testimony jurors also heard the car Robinson was driving was a work car with GPS tracking that placed him at the scene of the crash.

John Robinson's trial started with opening statements from the prosecution. The defense deferred from opening statements. Robinson is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and six other charges. He's suspected of entering I-75 in Beaverdam and driving the wrong way and hitting another vehicle. The crash killed 15-year-old Christopher Watson. Three of Watson's family members inside the car testified saying four of them including children were seriously hurt. Robinson was also identified drinking at a bar in Lima and Beaverdam.
An Arizona man believed to have caused a fatal drunk-driving crash attempted to get a new attorney today(11/5/19). John Robinson was in Allen County Common Pleas Court to part ways with his current court-appointed attorney. He says he is upset that he hasn't met with the expert witness his attorney plans to call at his trial next week. He also says he wants to see all of the discovery the prosecution has. The judge talked things out with Robinson and he will keep his same attorney.
