A single-car crash killed a Delphos woman Monday night. The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that 81-year-old Irma Kill of Delphos was treated at the scene of the crash but later died at Mercy Health-St. Rita's.

Landers held the annual awards banquet this week with two promotions and one significant retirement. Deputy Robert C. Miller will be retiring his commission as a Special Deputy with the office the end of this year. He began his law enforcement career in 1964 when he started with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. R.C. Miller became a Trooper after his graduation in the 66th class of the Highway Patrol. He retired in 1997 after 33 years with the Patrol then commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff that same year. His retirement is the culmination of an honorable 60-year career in this profession.
The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting this year's "Lights for Lives" campaign a success. Between 6 pm on November 25th through 6 am on November 27th, troopers and officers pulled over 894 vehicles for traffic violations all over northwestern Ohio.

November 8, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Columbus - The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s 174th Academy Class graduated today after 30 weeks of intense training. Director Andy Wilson, Ohio Department of Public Safety; and Colonel Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent; provided remarks. United States Marshal Michael D. Black, Southern District of Ohio, delivered the commencement address to the 40 members of the Patrol’s 174th Academy Class. Judge David A. Trimmer, Fairfield County Court of Common Pleas, issued the Oath of Office. Courses completed by the 174th class include crash investigation, criminal and traffic law, detection of impaired drivers, firearms, physical fitness, self-defense, and emergency vehicle operations.
They work to keep us all safe every day, and the Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition made sure they got recognized for their efforts. This is the 26th year for the Safe Community Awards. The award categories included emergency medical services, fire safety, and engineering. The winners are picked from a group of nominations that come from the public. Ten people or agencies won awards this year for what they do to help keep visitors and residents of Allen County safe.
October 11, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: COLUMBUS – Last week, the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with members of the 6-State Trooper Project to reduce unsafe driving behaviors along the Interstate 70 corridor. The high-visibility campaign ran from Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6, and included the Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. During the initiative, Ohio troopers issued citations for 325 speeding violations, 22 safety belt violations and made four OVI arrests. In total, among the three states participating in the initiative, 682 citations were issued for speeding, 47 citations for safety belt violations and 19 OVI arrests were made.
