NORTHWESTERN OHIO (WLIO) - The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting this year's "Lights for Lives" campaign a success.
OSHP reminds motorists to always buckle up, move over if you see flashing lights on the roadside, and never drive impaired.
Between 6 pm on November 25th through 6 am on November 27th, troopers and officers pulled over 894 vehicles for traffic violations all over northwestern Ohio. Out of those vehicles, a total of 449 citations were issued. 26 of those citations were for safety belt violations, and officers removed eight impaired drivers during this 36-hour safety campaign. Earlier Friday morning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported through a Facebook post that unbelted car crashes resulted in 2,919 fatalities and 12,412 serious injuries from 2019 through 2024 across the state.
