Many pools will be reopening this Memorial Day, and if you're planning to take your little ones swimming, there are some safety tips to keep in mind. Pediatricians say it only takes a second for an accident to happen. According to the CDC, drowning is the number one cause of death for kids between the ages of one and four. It's recommended that children take swimming lessons by the age of four. Or even earlier if they live near a pool or pond or have a boat. Also, make sure all life jackets are Coast Guard-approved.
ADA, OH (WLIO)- It was a special Tuesday Night in Ada as four individuals were recognized for their lifesaving actions.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Linda Oleyar was pronounced dead at the scene and a medical condition could be to blame. Around 8 p.m., Oleyar was southbound in the 17,000 block of Wenger Road and went off the east side of the road into a cornfield. Witnesses pulled her from the car and started lifesaving efforts, but they did not work. The accident remains under investigation.
