The federal extension deadline to file taxes is approaching and the City of Lima Tax Department is holding Saturday hours.

With Tax Day on Monday, the City of Lima is working overtime to help residents with their city taxes. Their offices will be open tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to assist with your city filing. You will need to bring your federal return, any W-2s and/or schedules. You must include your federal return with your city taxes.

The City of Lima's Tax Department has been fielding questions about a new procedure they've implemented. Lima taxation supervisor Chris Fast says they started implementing a state change in paying city taxes, where some residents that owe taxes will have to pay them sooner rather than later.

The City of Lima wants to remind residents about filing their city tax returns. The Lima Tax Department has already been getting some returns that have had to be sent back to the resident. You must attach a copy of your federal 1040 with your city tax filing.
