The assistance includes up to $500 toward electric bills or up to $1,500 for repairs to a central air conditioning unit. There is also a separate benefit available for those needing an air conditioning unit in addition to monetary assistance.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Linda Oleyar was pronounced dead at the scene and a medical condition could be to blame. Around 8 p.m., Oleyar was southbound in the 17,000 block of Wenger Road and went off the east side of the road into a cornfield. Witnesses pulled her from the car and started lifesaving efforts, but they did not work. The accident remains under investigation.
Law enforcement believes a medical condition led to a driver running a pickup truck into a Coldwater house this afternoon. The accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. Friday. According to the Coldwater police chief, the driver was driving along when he was hit with an unknown medical problem. The man ran through two stop signs and then turned to avoid one house, but ending up striking another on West Walnut Street.
