A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy was killed in the line of duty on Memorial Day. According to a statement from Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton, Deputy Daniel Weston Sherrer, 31, was shot and killed while responding to a domestic situation in the village of Marengo.

A total of 23 deer taken by hunters in Allen, Hardin, Marion, and Wyandot counties tested positive for CWD. Those counties were designated as disease surveillance areas by the Division of Wildlife.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife confirmed that 24 white-tailed deer taken during the 2024-25 hunting season tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
