Local kids got a lesson in music thanks to the Lima Public Library. The summer reading program through the library held "Adventures in Music" Wednesday at the Cairo branch. Kids of all ages came to learn about different musical instruments, the sounds of music, and the history of music. Representatives from Krysti's Music Studio in Bluffton were present to showcase their music skills and teach the kids about how music is everywhere in our lives and the lessons we can learn from it.

The Love Conquers All Music Festival and Series kicked off Friday night at Pangle Pavilion in Lima. REGGAE FEST kicked off the 2024 summer music series with The Ark Band, The Flex Crew, Stedic Music, and Ryan Kynd taking the stage Friday night. The festival focused on the reggae music genre with embedded styles of soca, calypso, R&B, hip hop, and blues along with vendors available for food and shopping. Organizer of the festival, Chris Henderson, says this is the first ever REGGAE FEST in the city, and he wants to help bring different styles of music for people to enjoy in Lima.
Every year, the campus of Ohio Northern University sees local students interested in music journey to Ada for their annual summer music camp. Our Casey Mulcahy tells us how the campus has been filled with smiles and the sounds of music. School might be out for the summer, but this group of students is fine-tuning their music skills thanks to the annual summer music camp at Ohio Northern University. For one week, local students come for the symphonic band program and the acapella choir program, with many small subgroups to be a part of.
The St. Marys Area Community Band is kicking off its 10th anniversary season this year with back-to-back free Sousa concerts. Bethany Ulrick caught up with the musicians to hear how they got their start and learn more about this weekend's show. The St. Marys Area Community Band has over 60 members from 18 different communities, including Mercer, Van Wert, and Allen Counties. They welcome musicians of all skill levels, whether they've been playing for a couple of years or for decades. For a city the size of St. Marys, a band like this isn't common, but the region is very supportive of the arts.
