Local nature enthusiasts had the chance to learn more about the natural history of Allen County! The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District was at the Lima Public Library talking about past landscape in the county. The park district talked about remnants of bedrock and limestone deposits underground along with glacial traces left behind. They also discussed how these things altered the soil and how that affected plant, animal, and human life throughout the county.

The libraries of Putnam County are going the extra mile to make reading interesting for kids this summer. Kids at the Columbus Grove branch learned all about space today as part of the season's "The Adventure Begins at Your Library Series." Through hands-on activities and crafts, they learned about the power of UV light, the phases of the moon, and the scale of objects in the solar system. Each week, the libraries will highlight books about a variety of different "adventurous" topics.
