The Lima Fire Department is investigating a fire that destroyed a garage and damaged homes in the area. Around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, firefighters were called to 648 Orena Avenue for flames coming from a detached garage. The fire damaged a nearby shed and fence and melted the siding on three neighboring homes. There was a vehicle inside the garage that was severely damaged too.

The Lima Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire Saturday afternoon. Firefighters went to Orena Avenue to combat the fire. Luckily, nobody was in the home when the fire started around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Multiple engines were on the scene to help tackle the flames.

A St. Marys man is dead after a shooting on Lima's southeast side Friday night. Dustan Purdy, 25, was pronounced dead at Lima Memorial Hospital after he suffered a single gunshot wound at a residence on the 400 block of Orena Avenue. The Lima Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene at 6:55 pm and say Purdy was transported to the hospital shortly after with obvious life-threatening injuries.
