Today is International Overdose Awareness Day in honor of both those who have lost their lives and survivors of overdose. Organizers of the resource fair say that many in Lima have been hard at work trying to help those suffering from addiction and save lives, but they have seen an increase in overdoses since the pandemic began in 2020.

It is a disease that many don't want to talk about or even acknowledge. Some may believe it's a choice you can just say no to. But health providers say addiction is more than a yes or no option. Today is Overdose Awareness Day and dozens of health care providers and social service agencies came together to save lives. A resource fair was held at Brightview Outpatient Addiction Treatment Services to help educated and refer individuals to the services that can assist them to achieve recovery.
