“You can bring tires, brush, junk furniture, but do not bring any hazardous waste or chemicals,” said Angie Rex, a property maintenance code inspector. “Paint can be accepted if it has been dried out or treated with kitty litter. If it’s still in liquid form, we won’t take it.”

The Allen County Council on Aging held their 12th annual car show. Neighbors, residents of Lochhaven Apartments, and other groups had a chance to admire over a dozen vehicles, enter raffles, and listen to music. Seeing well-maintained vintage cars or unique custom paint jobs is always interesting, but Gerald Burton says one of the highlights of the event is the memories that some models or styles of cars may bring back for local seniors.

The South Lima Community Development Corporation is hosting a launch and paint party to spruce up this property on Saint Johns Avenue. On a day of service, they are inviting people to join them as paint goes on Momma Dot's Soul Food Kitchen, formerly the Rib Cage. The building has become worn on the exterior and making these little changes can make a big difference.

ArtSpace Executive Director Sally Windell explains, “This is one of the ones that we want to do because of the Art Walk that’s coming up in September. We would like people to take a chance at paining outside and we’re going to put a couple of samples in the art bag so that you can go outside paint your surroundings and then bring it back to ArtSpace and we’re going to display them I September.”

The school held its first-ever Hornet Strong Community Day, and every student had a hand in some type of project. The principal at the high school, Jodi Gaietto, says that they wanted to find a way to give back to the community that is constantly giving so much to the school, and it’s also a way for the students to build character.
