A two vehicle crash occurred Monday Afternoon in Elida resulting in significant car damage to both vehicles. Around 5 PM Monday, a silver Dodge Journey traveling westbound on State Route 309 just west of Piquad Road in Elida rear ended a parked black Scion that was on the shoulder of the road.
Two people were trapped inside the van, but were eventually extracted by American Township Fire, and were then transported from the scene. Three people occupied the other vehicle, and all were transported from the scene as well. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Jeep Cherokee was driving south on Grubb Road when they failed to stop at the posted signs. They entered the path of a Cadillac heading west on Piquad Road and were struck before coming to rest in a nearby corn field. Both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles. Police say the driver of the Jeep was transported with minor injuries while the Cadillac driver walked away with a few scratches.
Thirty six-year-old Brian J. Grothouse of Delphos was traveling westbound on Piquad Road in a 2005 Jeep Liberty.
