Rhodes State College has a large nursing program to say the least - with all of the different degrees combined, around 300-400 students are enrolled in Rhodes' nursing program at any given time. One of those degrees that Rhodes offers is an associates in nursing, which is a two year program. "They do get their associate degree at the end, and then they can sit for their national state board exam called the NCLEX, and that’s what gives their nursing license to become a registered nurse," said Dr. Melissa Harvey, assistant dean of nursing at Rhodes State College.
After graduating from the STNA program at Lima Senior High School, Katherine Hooks knew that she wanted to continue her education to one day become a nurse. She eventually found her way to Mercy Health St. Rita's while earning her RN from Rhodes State College, and through a program at St. Rita's, Hooks found a spot in the hospital that she's grown to love.
