The sweet aroma of cinnamon apples was in the air in Spencerville! Inside St. Patrick Catholic Church, well over a dozen people were hard at work kneading the dough and peeling the apples for the church's upcoming annual apple dumpling luncheon. The nearly 4-decade long tradition is St. Patrick's biggest fundraiser each year where donations accepted will go to the children's religious education program and any remaining church expenses. While Tuesday night's task was huge with 450 apple dumplings to prepare, working together in the kitchen was a great way for community bonding.

One Lima organization is celebrating their 5-year anniversary of their pursuit to curb violence and encourage unity in the city. On Monday evening, Com_UNITY Ministries gathered with residents to celebrate those 5 years with a "Praise and Prayer Picnic." The evening was also filled with honor as organizers held a "Remembrance Wall" where the names of 45 Lima citizens who lost their lives to violence. The religious group formed in 2019, following a series of shootings in June of that year, and since their inception, they have been working hard to fulfill a mission of peace and unification.
