SPENCERVILLE, OH (WLIO) - The sweet aroma of cinnamon apples was in the air in Spencerville!
Inside St. Patrick Catholic Church, well over a dozen people were hard at work kneading the dough and peeling the apples for the church's upcoming annual apple dumpling luncheon. The nearly 4-decade-long tradition is St. Patrick's biggest fundraiser each year, where donations accepted will go to the children's religious education program and any remaining church expenses. While Tuesday night's task was huge with 450 apple dumplings to prepare, working together in the kitchen was a great way for community bonding.

"It's great. You know, people come and volunteer, and you know, you can't believe how big the kids are getting and able to help and come and volunteer. It's just really a good way for everyone to come together, especially on that Sunday. We have so many parishioners coming and helping and volunteering, serving, getting everything on the table ready," says Mary Ellen Lenhart, St. Patrick Catholic Church Parishioner & in charge of luncheon.
There will also be shredded chicken sandwiches, barbecue hamburger sandwiches, and a salad bar at the luncheon, which will be on Sunday, October 27th, from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM inside the church's basement.
