ELIDA (WLIO) — Minster held off a late push from Elida to secure an 8-7 win in the Bulldogs’ season opener at Dorothy Edwards Field.
Elida answered early, tying the game in the first inning on a triple from Delaney Miller that brought home Ava Jackson before Miller later scored to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.
Minster responded in the second with a home run from Lucy Schmiesing to even the score, then took control in the third inning. Ansley Wolf delivered a two-run double to score Caroline Knapke and Lauren Tyler, putting the Wildcats ahead 5-2.
Brianna Osterloh led the way in the circle for Minster, striking out nine batters over five and two-thirds innings to earn the win.
Elida threatened late, but Minster held on to secure the victory.
