LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A local family, along with support from the Lima chapter of the NAACP and Fifth Ward Councilman Thomas Jones, is seeking community assistance after a house fire.

On March 8, 72-year-old Lima resident Colleen Hall and her 8-year-old son lost their home at 735 E. Third St. after a fire sparked by an electrical issue with their dryer. The blaze caused extensive damage, leaving Hall and her family without their belongings. She said they lost everything, including the last photos of her late husband and parents.

Lima family seeks community support after devastating house fire

"In a matter of minutes, in a devastating fire took my home and every physical memory I own. I lost a lot of memories and pictures and furniture- everything, even my pet didn't get out. I've been here 72-years of my life in this town. Got a lot of people supporting me and everything with prayer, money, whatever. It's devastating, but I'm going to make it," says Colleen Hall who lost her home from a house fire.

A recovery fund goal of $6,000 has been set by the Hall family, the NAACP and Councilman Jones. Donations will help cover housing costs, bedding, furniture, clothing, school uniforms and school supplies.

Those who would like to help can donate through GoFundMe or via Cash App at $COLLEENHALL18.
