LEIPSIC, Ohio (WLIO) — Leipsic will look to keep its postseason run alive Friday when the Vikings face South Webster in the Division VII state semifinal.

Leipsic enters the Final Four with a 17-9 record and a six-game winning streak after rallying for a walk-off victory over Montpelier in the regional championship game. Awaiting the Vikings is a 21-10 South Webster squad, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton.

Head coach Darren Henry said the team's success has come from a full team effort during the postseason run.

"We don't count on one person. I mean, this has been these tournament games have been a team effort, every game it's been a different three or four guys who've carried us, it took that team effort to do it," Henry said.

"You know that they came, and they have that they came together as a team, and good things will happen when you do that. You don't care about yourself anymore, you care about your team, and that's why that's all they've been," he added.

Leipsic senior outfielder Zac Lammers reflected on what the moment means for the program and Coach Henry.

"I'm the fifth person in my family to be coached by Coach Henry, and I'm the only one that can say that I made it to state, so that's just that's always good to have against your brothers and brother-in-law, but it's also amazing for Coach Henry," Lammers said. "He's been here for so long, and we finally get it done this year, so it's just great."

Leipsic junior catcher Myles Camareno said a midseason shift helped spark the Vikings' turnaround.

"A couple weeks ago, we kind of struggled, so I felt like we had a little bit of a turnaround," Camareno said. "I feel like our coaches kind of came to the agreement that we can make it far, could make a good tournament run, and I feel like our players kind of realized that, and then I don't know, it kind of flipped the switch."
