LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A summer tradition of classic cars, motorcycles, food and live music is helping make a difference for families facing food insecurity in the region.
Wings and Rings recently presented the West Ohio Food Bank with a donation of $6,324.50. The funds were raised during the restaurant’s Car and Bike Nights held throughout last summer.
A portion of sales generated during the Monday evening events was donated to the food bank. According to the organization, every dollar donated can help provide five meals to people in need, making the contribution especially impactful.
West Ohio Food Bank officials said the donation represents more than just financial support, highlighting the community partnerships and relationships built through the events.
“So, and really, it's more about the plus $6,000 that got rounded up from the patio sales and from the restaurant sales last year on those Monday nights. It's more about camaraderie, it's more about community. How these guys care about feeding those in need in the community. Special shout out as well to State Bank, they're a longtime partner of ours. They like to come out to these, bring their Gifts Truck, and do some things with us here. So, it really goes beyond the actual donation that we get," says Jason Aldrich, Communications and PR Manager, West Ohio Food Bank.
The restaurant has already launched a new season of Car and Bike Nights. Community members who want to showcase their vehicles or enjoy food and entertainment can attend the weekly events every Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
