LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Oheneba Soccer Academy partnered with the City of Lima and the National Night Out to teach kids soccer skills and give away official FIFA soccer balls. Â
The academy partnered with the city of Lima to give away 200 balls donated from FIFA to Mayor Sharitta Smith. Balls were given to children after participating in a quick shooting drill.Â
Officials with Oheneba said the opportunity was a blessing and said that their program helps build confidence in kids through mentorship.
"We're using this platform to mentor these kids, to let them know that they're worth something," said executive director Edward Eghan.
"The word Oheneba means royalty. If you come from a royal family, the way you carry yourself and your attitude towards life is different. It's all about giving the children and the youth of this community the confidence they need to not only start their life, but also to use those teachings as they progress in life."
The academy also provided information about their camp and how to register for 2027.
