LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Several Lima organizations are once again joining forces to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.
The annual Back 2 School Block Party will return on Aug. 16 at the Lima Amphitheater. The event will provide students with free school supplies while also offering food, activities and entertainment for families.
The event is organized by the South Lima Community Development Corporation, Fresh 'N Faded, LACNIP and the Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Association. Organizers are currently seeking donations to help meet the needs of local students before the start of the school year.
“We’re looking for items of anything from personal hygiene type items to shoes to book bags, school supplies, clothing items, even people's time. If people want to come out and help volunteer, we're looking for that as well. Drop them off at the LACNIP office Spring St.. They can drop them off Fresh and Faded on Main Street or they can drop it off South Limas office which is a part of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church,” says Saul Allen, South Lima Community Development Corporation.
The Back 2 School Block Party will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the Lima Amphitheater. Allen encourages families to arrive early, saying lines wrapped around the park during last year's event.
