WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — The 174th Auglaize County Fair is underway, welcoming visitors with a patriotic theme honoring America's 250th birthday while offering a week of food, entertainment, livestock exhibits and family activities.
Fair officials spent the past year preparing for the seven-day event, which features traditional fair favorites along with several new attractions. This year's fair includes additional activities geared toward younger fairgoers and free family entertainment along the midway, including a Bruno Blaszak’s Royal Bengal Tigers and the Pirates of the Columbian Caribbean Aerial High Wire Thrill Show.
Visitors can also enjoy live music throughout the week in the Gospel and Entertainment Tent while taking in the fairgrounds' red, white and blue decorations.
“Especially if you come out at night, you'll see it lit up red, white, and blue, which we're really happy about. We had a big group of individuals and a big team putting that together, that was a group effort. You'll see different artwork throughout the grounds. You'll see different theming throughout the grounds as well. Really just trying to encapsulate who we are. Freedom, family, red, white, and fair. So, excited about that,” says Kieran Fetter, Fairgrounds Manager.
The grandstand schedule features a variety of events throughout the week:
- Monday, 6 p.m. — Cheerleading Competition
- Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 p.m. — Harness Racing
- Thursday, 7:30 p.m. — Demolition Derby
- Friday, 7 p.m. — Tug-a-Truck
- Saturday, 7 p.m. — Craig Morgan with Colby Lee Smith
