COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — A telecommunications company has been selected to expand broadband infrastructure across northern Ohio with the help of $20 million in state funding.

Com Net Incorporated was awarded the funding for the Route 30 Middle Mile Infrastructure Project, which will build a fiber network along U.S. 30. The network will connect colleges, local governments, health care facilities and other institutions in several northwest Ohio counties, including Van Wert, Putnam, Allen, Hancock and Hardin counties. The project spans 15 counties in total. Com Net has two years to complete construction of the fiber network.
