LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A new restaurant taking shape along Cable Road is preparing to open its doors, bringing a Texas-based chicken chain to the Lima area for the first time.
Layne's Chicken Fingers, which began in College Station, Texas, in 1994, selected Lima for its second Ohio location and the first in northwest Ohio. Company officials said the community's growth and strong market made it an ideal place to expand.
The restaurant has already hired 54 local employees ahead of its grand opening.
"We are extremely blessed to be a part of the Lima community. We've hired 54 people here. Lima is a fast growing market and we again just are excited to be here and be a part of this community," said Jeff Caskey, operations manager.
Layne's Chicken Fingers is scheduled to open Saturday, Aug. 15. The company's only other Ohio restaurant is located in Parma, near Cleveland.
