ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Two people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Auglaize County.
According to troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Wapakoneta Post, 18-year-old Noah Carte of New Bremen and 49-year-old Jamie O'Neal of St. Marys were seriously injured in a crash that occurred just after 5 a.m. at the intersection of Plattner Pike and state Route 219.
Troopers said Carte was traveling north on Plattner Pike when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck O'Neal's vehicle on SR 219. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway following the collision.
Authorities said both drivers were wearing seat belts and were transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

Wapakoneta - The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred on July 27,2026, at approximately 5:03 a.m. in Saint Marys Township, Auglaize County, Ohio. The crash occurred on State Rout e 219 at the intersection of Plattner Pike.
Noah J. Carte, age 18, of New Bremen, was operating a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Jamie A. O'Neal, age 49, of Saint Marys, was operating a 2010 Honda CR-V.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Hyundai was northbound on Plattner Pike and the Honda was eastbound on State Route 219. The Hyundai failed to stop at the stop sign posted on Plattner Pike and was struck by the Honda. The Honda traveled off the north side of State Route 219 and came to rest in an agricultural field. The Hyundai traveled off the south side of State Route 219 and came to rest in the ditch.
Carte was wearing a safety belt. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital by St. Marys Township EMS.
O'Neal was wearing a safety belt. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital by St. Marys Township EMS.
St. Marys Township Fire and EMS, Tops Towing, and Nelson's Towing also responded to the crash.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash
The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
