FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) -Â The Hancock County Veteran Service Office hosted a fair and picnic to teach veterans about the resources available to them in the community.Â
The office partnered with local veteran's agencies and businesses to show off their services at the Veterans Empowerment Summer Fair. Participants visited different tables to learn about the services provided to them and how businesses are giving back to those who have served. A family picnic was also provided for veterans with children, which included bounce houses and face painting, as well as a hamburger lunch. Officials with the veterans office said the fair is part of their mission to promote community resources and serve those that have served.
"I retired from the Marine Corps in 2022 after 20 years, and a chance to be able to give back to veterans by working in the Hancock County Veteran Service Office is very important to me because all of us in our office are veterans," said Toby Brown, HCVSO office manager.
"It's just another way to continue serving the community and veterans throughout the community."
Brown added that the fair helps provide awareness for not only the veteran's office, but for many other agencies and businesses dedicated to serving veterans.
The office will hold another resource fair in November 2026 and March 2027.
