LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As families prepare for the new school year, the Lima YMCA helped ease the cost of back-to-school shopping by hosting its Mom-to-Mom Sale earlier than usual.
The organization typically holds the sale in the fall but moved it to the beginning of August this year so parents could shop for school essentials before classes begin. The sale featured a wide selection of gently used children's clothing, along with backpacks, shoes and other items to help students prepare for the school year while allowing families to save money. Organizers say the event also gives community members an opportunity to visit the YMCA and connect with other local families.
“Because you get a good mix of our community, that might not be members, that get to come in and kind of see what we have on top of shopping and getting familiar with other people in the community and different things. Everyone has different varieties of stuff. So we have anywhere from newborn boys and girls all the way up to like 18 to 20 sizes for boys and girls. So you get a really good variety and it helps everybody in the community at any age,” says Skylynn Prine, Youth and Teen Development Dir. Lima YMCA.
The Lima YMCA plans to hold another Mom-to-Mom Sale around April 2027. Families can check the organization's Facebook page for updates and additional information.
