Austin Miller

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — The Ohio Supreme Court has ordered mediation in a public records complaint filed by Shawnee Township Fire Chief Austin Miller against the Shawnee Township trustees.

The complaint, filed Friday by Miller's attorneys, alleges the trustees failed to fulfill public records requests related to investigations involving the fire chief.

According to the court's order, the Ohio Supreme Court will not issue a decision on the merits of the case until mediation has concluded.

According to the complaint, Miller's attorneys requested documents in May and June related to investigations conducted by the Ohio Auditor of State's Special Investigations Unit and Shawnee Township.

The Shawnee Township trustees placed Miller on paid leave in May while the investigations were underway.

A spokesperson for the Ohio Auditor of State's Office told Your News Now on Friday that the investigation remains ongoing.
