Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced nearly $60 million in state support to help clean up and redevelop 51 hazardous brownfield sites in 27 counties.
This project is the 264th undertaken by the Allen County Land Bank and its largest to date. The state has provided millions of dollars in brownfield grants to aid redevelopment efforts across Ohio, including in Allen County.
Auglaize County Commissioners are currently working with a subsidiary of Vancrest. Vancrest seeks to build a new facility at the former Auglaize Acres property.
The money comes from the Ohio Brownfield Remediation program which is designed to clean up and prepare hazardous brownfield sites for redevelopment. The village of Spencerville will be receiving a little over three point nine million dollars for the cleanup of the old Ohio decorative products facility. The Van Wert Land Reutilization Corporation will receive two hundred twenty-four thousand and four hundred dollars for the vacant Anthony Wayne school building.
