Ohio's governor says the state medical board ignored credible evidence in 1996 about a doctor that had been sexually abusing male students for years. Governor Mike DeWine says the report showed that investigators knew the former Ohio State University physician, Dr. Richard Strauss, had sexually assaulted more than 100 male students, and no one did anything about it. Strauss committed suicide in 2005. A review of the medical board couldn't determine why they never disciplined or told police about Strauss.

Weeks after the final report on team doctor Richard Strauss sexual abuse was released, Ohio State University is taking steps to make sure that no future abuse happens at the school. The school already has offered to cover the cost of counseling to victims for as long as they need it, but are also tackling the issue from a preventative angle. The school will create a task force made up of experts, as well as survivors, and will look at the steps the school can take to protect their students in the future.
