As part of this anticipated shift, the contractor continues to conduct nightly lane closures on the southbound side of I-75 to move barrier walls. The expected traffic shift will move the two remaining southbound lanes to the interior portion of the interstate. This allows the contractor to begin work on the southbound exterior lanes.
August 13, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation: Montgomery County (Tuesday, August 13, 2024) – The reconstruction of Interstate 75 between Needmore Road and Leo Street has begun operations to prepare for the next phase of construction. As part of this anticipated shift, the contractor will conduct nightly lane closures on the southbound side of I-75 to begin moving barrier walls. The expected traffic shift will move the two remaining southbound lanes to the interior portion of the interstate. This allows the contractor to begin work on the southbound exterior lanes.
Traffic pattern changes are coming to I-75 between U.S. 35 and S.R. 741 in the coming weeks. The ramp from Dryden Road to I-75 South is will close for 60 days. Crews will be reconstructing the ramp. Crews are currently working to switch traffic patterns for southbound travel as this project progresses into next phase of construction. This updated pattern will maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction. Southbound drivers will begin operating on the inside lanes of the interstate as well as utilizing the contraflow lane.
Preliminary work continues to put in a roundabout at the busy intersection of State Route 81 and Thayer Road. The project is currently in the design phase, and that is expected to wrap up this winter, with construction starting in the fall of next year. The intersection has been a safety concern with traffic from the Procter & Gamble warehouses and a second plant under construction off of Thayer. Plus, GPS units are sending truck traffic down Thayer Road to avoid driving through downtown Lima.
