A public meeting was held Thursday night about the roundabout at Bluelick and State Route 65 that is expected to begin construction as early as late summer of 2027. ODOT explained that there will be some temporary and permanent property acquisition as well as utility lines moved.
Many residents have asked why a left-turn lane isn't added instead. Traffic studies showed that this would be less effective at reducing crashes and would actually make the area's congestion, especially during shift changes at nearby manufacturers, even worse.

"When you add another phase to the signal, which would be the turn lanes on Bluelick, it actually will increase the delay. Because now, instead of sitting and waiting for traffic to clear out and for the turns on 65, you're going to sit for that extra phase, waiting for Bluelick to clear out as well. So, what we've done with our traffic analysis actually shows that a turn lane will actually increase the delay versus what's there now," explained Rob White, the ODOT District 1 Capital Programs Administrator.
