With no new federal farm bill in sight, food bank officials from across the United States are preparing to converge on the nation’s capital to advocate for hunger relief programs.

The United Way of Lima held its 9th annual "National Day of Caring," with volunteers tackling projects all across the area.

The organization is looking for individuals and groups to assist with tasks such as packing senior food boxes and backpacks for schoolchildren. Volunteers are also needed to help with cleaning duties around the warehouse.
