Dackin sent his resignation letter to the Ohio State Board of Education. In the letter, he says his appointment to the position has raised concerns from others and he doesn't want the "revolving door" questions to distract from the important work ahead for schools, educators, and especially the children.

Steve Dackin was named Tuesday as the "Superintendent of Public Instruction", taking over for the retired Paolo DeMaria. The state board of education announced the hiring after a 14 to 4 vote to appoint Dackin. He is also an Ohio Northern University and University of Dayton graduate. He has served as Superintendent of Reynoldsburg schools and more recently as the Superintendent of Columbus State Community College.
