A 1975 Bath High School graduate is the new head of K thru 12 public education in Ohio.
Steve Dackin was named Tuesday as the "Superintendent of Public Instruction", taking over for the retired Paolo DeMaria. The state board of education announced the hiring after a 14 to 4 vote to appoint Dackin. He is also an Ohio Northern University and University of Dayton graduate. He has served as Superintendent of Reynoldsburg schools and more recently as the Superintendent of Columbus State Community College. Dackin is a former state board of education member. Governor DeWine put out a statement congratulating Dackin and saying he will be an effective voice for Ohio students and parents.
