St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer recently donated $12,000 to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. This donation will help support the purchase of Stereotactic Breast Biopsy equipment that will be added on to our 3D Mammography equipment. A Stereotactic Breast Biopsy is used when breast abnormalities need to be biopsied but cannot be seen under ultrasound imaging.

Ohio State Lima held a tailgate open house just in time for the buckeye's final two regular season games. Juniors and seniors to learn more about the programs, financial aid, and extracurricular opportunities at the regional campus. Ohio State Lima Dean Tim Rehner talked to the students about the importance of getting a higher education degree. He says that only 11% of Allen County has a college degree or higher and he wanted the students to understand the benefits of going to college.

St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer has raised over $1.5 million since they started, and they are not stopping until cancer is beat.  This 14th year for the event, which started with a few individuals who wanted to make a difference and to help friends and loved ones who have been affected with cancer and has grown to help many in the community battling the disease.  During the event there are raffles, live and silent auctions and other activities to raise money for them to give away.   After this year’s event, Tailgate for Cancer will be able to cross over the $1 million mark in total donations to the James Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

Before the first-ever matchup on the football field between LCC and Lima Senior, Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes wanted to bring the two sides together. They hosted a free tailgate for both schools to enjoy some free food and good company. Fans were treated to hot dogs, sausages, chips, and cookies. The tailgate also benefited the American Cancer Society as they held a free-will donation. Some believe this was a fun way to meet your neighbors.
