September 30, 2024, Press Release from the City of Lima: Replacement of the West Street Bridge over the Ottawa River is now complete. The work began in April 2024 to replace the bridge built in the 1970s, resulting in the closure of the area between North Shore Drive and South Shore Drive/West Eureka St., along with a portion of the Rotary Riverwalk. These areas are now accessible to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The project consisted of several improvements to the roadway, including the replacement of the bridge deck and beams, along with storm sewer improvements. The West Street Bridge also has new sidewalks, ADA ramps, curb lines, curb ramps, and newly resurfaced pavement.

The West Street Bridge over the Ottawa River is getting replaced, with construction slated to begin on April 1, 2024. West Street between North Shore Drive and South Shore Drive will be closed for 150 days during the construction. The portion of the Rotary Riverwalk there will also be closed, with detours posted. City engineers say it is time to address the bridge.
The West Street Bridge between North Shore Drive and South Shore Drive/West Eureka St. will be closed beginning April 1st, 2024 and will remain closed for 150 calendar days with tentative reopening on August 28th, 2024. This closure includes both the roadway and Lima Rotary Riverwalk.
