LIMA, Ohio - The Grand Lake Mariners swept the weekly Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League awards after standout performances on both sides of the ball.
Matt Aldridge was named player of the week after hitting .344 with three home runs, 16 runs scored and six stolen bases, providing a major spark for the Mariners offense.
On the mound, Joe Lafkas earned pitcher of the week honors after going 2-0 with 16 strikeouts across 10 innings. He allowed just two earned runs on two hits while posting a 1.8 ERA.
The Mariners now lead the GLSCL with an 8-1 record and turn their attention to a key three-game series against the second-place Lima Locos, who enter at 7-2. The series opens Tuesday in Lima.
