SHELBY COUNTY, OHIO (WLIO) - A Russia man was seriously injured late Friday night after a single-vehicle crash in western Shelby County.

The car continued to travel for over one hundred yards through the field and over a creek, striking the opposite bank and rolling on its top.

It happened just before 10 o'clock on State Route 47, about two miles north of the Village of Russia in Loramie Township. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 45-year-old Andrew Baugher was driving west in a 2004 Honda Accord when he lost control and drove off the right side of the roadway into a field. The car continued to travel for over one hundred yards through the field and over a creek, striking the opposite bank and rolling on its top. Baugher, who was the only person in the car, was trapped for a short time until rescue crews from the Russia Community Fire Company and Spirit EMS were able to extricate him. CareFlight flew him to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The Fort Loramie Police Department also assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
