The McDonald's of Ohio School Supply Drive wrapped up earlier this week to help provide school supplies to struggling families before the school year begins. Donation boxes were placed at 380 McDonald's locations in the Greater Ohio region and 12 right here in Lima. The supplies were dropped off at the Allen County Children Services building for them to hand out to kids.
Your Hometown Stations, along with the Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships and Lewis Family McDonald's, were all proud participants in the school supply drive.
Children Services officials say they always look forward to making a difference in the classroom for local students in need.
"Our kids that are involved with our agency that have been victims of abuse or neglect, it's so important that they are in school. School not only meets their educational needs, but it's so much more than that too. The schools always check in on kids, making sure they're doing okay, that they're safe. So it's just so important that kids are in school, and we want to make sure there's no barriers for them to be in school," said Sarah Newland, executive director of Allen County Children Services.
