The Nutrien warehouse project is making progress today. The Shawnee Township Board of Trustees held a special meeting of the board this morning to pass an enterprise zone agreement for Nutrien's proposed warehouse project. The facility will store parts and other materials that come in for maintenance work. These types of investments do a lot for Shawnee Township.
Less fortunate Allen County children will be more prepared going back to school this year thanks to charitable efforts from the community. The McDonald's of Ohio School Supply Drive wrapped up earlier this week to help provide school supplies to struggling families before the school year begins. Donation boxes were placed at 380 McDonald's locations in the Greater Ohio region and 12 right here in Lima. The supplies were dropped off at the Allen County Children Services building for them to hand out to kids.

Todd James, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of North Central Ohio is joining the ongoing Red Cross Hurricane Ian disaster relief operation in Florida. James will be serving as the Public Affairs Manager, overseeing efforts to communicate vital information on services available to families and communities. He is one of more than 20 Red Cross workers from the Northern Ohio region who are providing assistance to residents who were impacted by the devastation caused by the hurricane.
The Lima Memorial Auxiliary donated to the center through the annual supply drive. The Children’s Developmental Center is located inside the health system and is for kids 18 months to before they can go to kindergarten who have areas of developmental concerns. The annual supply drive is a way that the Lima Memorial associates can help out the program by providing snacks, activities, and paper products.
Lima Chevrolet Cadillac, with the help of several other local businesses, has filled about 100 backpacks with school supplies. Everything from tablets, folders, pencils, and glue can be found inside. It's a way that they can give back to the community.
The assisted living facility provided local families with the opportunity to pick up school supplies as well as have a bite to eat with food trucks available at the event. Organizers wanted to give back to the community and help provide some overall relief to families who are in need.
Daddys at Work has organized a drop-off event for school supplies to make sure that every student has the opportunity to succeed in the classroom. Daddys at Work is a program committed to helping ease the stresses on families during these uncertain economical times.
Mercy Health presented a check for $2,000 toward the purchase of school supplies to the United Way. Schools have been contacting the United Way and with this donation, each school can get the specific school supplies that their students need. Mercy Health was happy to help the area schools.
