The Allen County Council on Aging honored three of their employees that have been helping out area seniors for decades.
Judy Jacomet, Ella Napier, and Lorain Lovett were recognized at a special ceremony on Wednesday. Each of these women have been serving with the Council on Aging for over 40 years.
They say that being able to reach out and help our area's oldest citizens has been the driving force behind staying with the council all these years.
"Just to be able to provide services, to help them find what they need, to meet them and get to know them for many years, and just that we’re serving the community - it’s been a wonderful thing," said Jacomet.
"I love working with seniors," said Lovett. "You can make a difference in their lives and it’s so rewarding. It’s such a rewarding job."
"I was taught to always respect my elders, so I come from a tradition that was passed down through family to always look to after the elderly," said Napier. "It’s just been a joy and a love."
Plaques will also be hung in the council's lobby commemorating these women.
Combined, they have worked for the Council on Aging for 130 years.
