The Lima Senior DECA Program made a big impact in the community Tuesday Evening. Two student representatives donated a check of $500 to the Marimor Legacy Foundation Tuesday Evening at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities regular board meeting. Back in September, the Lima Senior DECA students made and sold shirts at the Buddy Walk to help raise the funds. The donated funds will be used for the third phase of the All Ability Playground Project.

Ohio's Fourth District Congressman told Fox News that he will be examining the mishandling of classified documents by President Biden when he was serving as vice president. In a letter, Jordan and Louisiana Republican Congressman Mike Johnson sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland, saying they are conducting an oversite of documents found at Biden's private office in Washington D.C. and in a garage in his Delaware home.
Governor Mike DeWine signed that order on Sunday as he began his second term. He cited concerns that personal information and business data collected by those platforms may be shared with the Chinese government. The order prohibits state agencies, boards, and commissions from using social media platforms whose owners are in China.

Governor Mike DeWine talked to Your News Now about the recent attempted to reduce the power of the state board of education by Ohio lawmakers. The bill passed the Ohio Senate and would have given a governor the power to appoint a director of education, instead of the board picking a superintendent for the state. The director would be the authority on curriculum, and other educational decisions in the state. The Ohio House did not pass the bill before the session ended in December, and it will need to be reintroduced in the new session starting in January if it will be come law in the state.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Rhodes State College held their final Board of Trustees meeting of the year on Tuesday.
During the December 5th meeting, Lima City Council moved the ordinance to another reading to further clarify different requirement that certain city employees needed to receive a onetime discretionary bonus of $1,000 for doing essential work during the pandemic. According to city officials, under the requirements that have been set, there are over 200 employees that would qualify for the bonus. The total amount of the bonuses will not exceed $420,000.
It consists of a chief executive or their appointed representative, chief fiscal officer, chief legal officer, and a community representative appointed by the chief executive. The City of Lima's records commission meets twice a year to handle any requests for the disposal of department records and to provide the rules for both the retention and disposal of records.
The latest proposal to give Ohio's governor more power over-seeing K-12 education cleared the Ohio Senate last week. The bill would significantly change decision making about academic standards, on guidance on curriculum, and on school district ratings. If passed, the state education department will be run by a director appointed by the governor rather than the state board of education and the superintendent that the board hires. Supporters of the bill say the changes would promote more accountability and transparency. But teachers’ unions and advocacy groups say lawmakers are rushing the bill. The 2,000 page bill only has around a week to get Ohio House approval before the legislative session ends. Speaker of the House Bob Cupp says discussion are ongoing.
