LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is in the midst of budget discussions with county commissioners for 2026.
Budget topics have focused on vehicles, uniforms, and necessary equipment for all employees, as well as upcoming negotiations with the union. The biggest discussion centered on equipping deputies with body cameras by mid- to late 2026.
In late September, Allen County Commissioners approved a contract with Axon Enterprises for the purchase and installation of body and patrol cameras, along with tasers. The sheriff’s office says the budget is in a strong position, with the body camera purchase being the largest factor.
"I think we're in a good spot. Everything is kind of adding up. We're having a lot of things we are looking forward to this year in the budget with the new body cams. The difference in the budget (from last year) is technology, of course. That's always an expensive operations for everyone," says Todd Mohler, Chief Deputy with the Allen County Sheriff's Office.
Mohler adds that the total estimate for the 2026 budget is not available at this time.
