LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The previous Allen Lima Leadership Class just graduated this week, and now a new one is ready to go.
The mantra of the Allen Lima Leadership Group is to strive to lead, connect, grow, and serve the community.Â
37 new members got together this morning for an orientation. The meet and greet laid out what's planned for the course. The mantra of the Allen Lima Leadership Group is to strive to lead, connect, grow, and serve the community. That includes local tours focusing on education, healthcare, the media, and manufacturing. Students then take what they learned back to their own workplaces.Â
New members are also kicking around ideas for their class project, identifying a local problem and coming up with ways to solve it.
Executive director Matt Childers says the new class members come from a wide array of backgrounds.
"I think that's really key is just a melting pot of all kinds of great members that have great ideas, different perspectives, who've had different live experiences; they're going to bring that to their groups, their service groups, and I think that's going to make for a really enticing year," said Matt Childers, executive director of Allen Lima Leadership.
The first session in October will look at local agriculture and the environment.
